Charcoal masks not long ago became very popular and widely used instantly. This is due to their positive benefits such as detoxifying the skin and giving it a clearer and more vivid look at the same time.
You may also be familiar with charcoal as an ingredient used to whiten teeth, but it is also very good for the skin as it turns out. It has proven to be good to exfoliate the skin, detoxify and clear clogged pores that are something we all look for when purchasing a skin care product.
In addition, this charcoal face mask is not only simple and easy to create, it will also relax your skin and improve your look for the better. For more detail about the mask and how to make it at home, read on bellow.
Raw Honey. Raw honey is a widely used ingredient because it has antibacterial properties, soothing burns and we can’t forget to mention it’s a natural dessert sweetener. It makes a great ingredient for a mask because it helps to get rid of problems as it softens and smoothes the skin due to its antibacterial effect.
Activated Charcoal. Charcoal is the key ingredient of this recipe, particularly if internal poisoning is suspected because of its ability to absorb toxins. It purifies the skin and absorbs all the harmful toxins from it when incorporated into a beauty product like this mask.
Bentonite Clay. Bentonite clay effectively cleans the skin when combined with water and mixed into a mask and eliminates impurities that can cause damage. This comes from aged volcanic ash sediment which functions by collecting and imprisoning the contaminants of the skin and eventually healing the tissue. It can also have a drying effect and raw honey is added to this recipe for this purpose.
Essential Oils. Due to the incredible benefits they offer, a number of essential oils are used in various homemade recipes. Thanks to their purifying effects, lavender and tea tree essential oils were chosen to be part of this recipe.
Lavender is a good essential oil and is generally recommended for nourishing and preserving the skin and maintaining its overall health. Tea tree, on the other hand, is well known for its antibacterial properties and is commonly used as an acne to treat skin problems. Despite the low concentration of essential oils in this recipe, however, they still achieve the required effect.
We also provide you with the necessary natural ingredients and guidance to help you prepare a wonderful face mask that is detoxifying and can suit any type of skin.
- 1 tbs of activated charcoal powder
- ½ tbs of raw honey
- 1 tbs of bentonite clay
- 2 tbs of water
- 1 drop of both lavender and tea tree oil
Start by adding in a small glass bowl the necessary amount of water and essential oils. Then sprinkle the bentonite clay over the mixture and let it sit (to absorb) for about 10-15 seconds before adding the other ingredients. Next, take small rubber spatula and start mixing and mashing until there are no visible lumps in the mixture.
Upon completion, put the mask on your face and let it sit for about 10 minutes to dry out. Use a soft soap and warm water to wash it off.
We must not forget to mention that it can not be stored because this mask does not contain any preservatives, so you will need to use it immediately if you decide to make it.
Using this mask and then using soap to remove it can leave some types of skin dry, so we encourage you to add a thin layer of pumpkin seed oil or sweet almond oil if you think your skin needs it.
The charcoal can quickly stain light-colored fabrics and even your hair, so you have to be careful and cautious when using it. Also, after using the mask, wash your sink immediately.
